Armageddon “Composite” 2014

I used the above photos together to make the composite photo (the first picture). When I look at this picture, I think of hopelessness and devastation. The shade of yellow on the top two-thirds of the photo give the city this foreboding look, along with the textures. I think of the movie Wall-E when I look at this photograph because, to me, it symbolizes the end of nature and a balance between nature and technology. The fact that the city is sitting on top of the upside down branches shows that the city is dominating and crushing nurture. WE should take care of our environment and never let that happen. Without nature, there won’t even be life on the planet, so even if technology is dominating now, one day we will be the ones to suffer and die if we don’t change our ways.

"Juxtaposition" "Field Trip" 2014
I took this picture when we went on the field trip to Pilson. I thought the stone house looked interesting next to the normal (more modern) house, so I took the picture. The tree branches also add a nice effect to the photo.

Clarity “Field Trip” 2014
This is a picture of my friend Ashley which I took when I went with her on a fieldtrip to Osaka Gardens. The image has a texture overlay on it (snow). I had her sit on a tree trunk and I took a picture through the branches, but I realized later that one of the branches was covering one of her eyes and that she was in the center. Other than that, I personally like this photo, especially because of the background.

Are You Serious? “Studio Portrait” 2014
I had my model look at something to the side to take this photo. I love her expression in this picture. She looks dismayed and unbelieving.

Hesitant ”Studio Portrait” 2014
This is a picture of my model, Ashley, holding and looking at a rose. Though it is more of a stereotypical shot, I love the expression on her face. She looks curious yet a little scared to look at the rose. Her body language is also tense.

Captivation “Altered Space” 2014
The photo was taken on the other side of the blinds in order to make the picture more interesting. I then put an oil painting filter on it and erased every other line so that it would look like both a painting and a photograph.

Stuck “Altered Space” 2014
This is a photograph of my favorite shoes in the grass. When I look at this photo, I think of getting stuck and trying to untangle myself (the shoes trying to untangle themselves from the branches).

Running to Wall-E “Altered Space” 2014
This is a picture of my little sister running towards a mural. I took it when we went to see Purdue University in Indiana. I made the picture black and white and then erased to bring back the color of the mural to create the interesting effect.

Fear of the Unknown “Studio Self-Portrait” 2014
There are many things that I am afraid of, but I believe that people can only conquer their fears if they get a chance to experience the “unknown.” When I look at this picture of myself, I see the reluctance to experience life. This unwillingness and fear is a part of my personality that I have been trying to change for a long time. In fact I believe it is something everyone struggles with. This photo depicts the reluctance well, and after looking at the expression on my face, it makes we want to overcome this fear and start experiencing the world.

Why Wake Up? “Out and About- Self Portrait” 2014
This is a picture of me sleeping. It describes my personality well because I feel most at peace when I am relaxed and away from reality. I love to dream and am happiest when I am in my own world.
